What Is Earthing / Grounding ?

Earthing or grounding is an integral part of an electrical circuit. It is a connection given to the earth by means of a conductor connected to the electrode buried in the soil. The earth's potential is always taken as zero for all purposes.

Good earthing must have impedance low enough to ensure that sufficient current can flow through the safety devices so that it disconnects the supply (<0.4 sec). It must be mechanically strong; it must have good corrosion resistance, ability to carry current repeatedly and reliable life of over 25 years.

  Why Earthing / Grounding ?

It is required to save human life from the danger of electric shocks by blowing a fuse. It provides a safe path to dissipate lightning current, fault current and short circuit currents. It also protects from static electricity.

Why the need for Conventional / superior earthing?

The conventional system of earthing involves a large pit into which a GI pipe or a copper plate is positioned amidst layers of charcoal and salt. Corrosion over a period of time and lack of moisture around electrode often lead to unexpected electrical accidents causing loss of life and property.

Though GI pipe earthing and copper plate earthing have been in vogue since the advent of electricity, they cannot cater to the demands of the present day sensitive machinery.

Hence the need for a strong and superior electrode - Ashlok Safe Earthing Electrode - which is maintenance free, cost effective, strong, efficient and longer lasting.

Ashlok Safe Earthing Electrode is the ideal earthing system in the context of the present day electric/sensitive electronic environment
